So this used to be a coldstone and now it's called "Alan's homemade ice cream" yet the same people all still work there and they sell coldstone knockoff ice cream. I'm pretty sure the cakes in the fridge are coldstone as well. The ice cream is good because it's like coldstone but the service isn't that great. When we came here two years ago when it was coldstone, the service was terrible and now coming back we thought it would be different people but the same guy was working there that was rude to us two years ago. Blah, good ice cream though I guess

We come from the Land of Dewars, and if you don't know what Dewars is then google it and reference my waistband... Anyway I love ice cream. And I know ice cream. This place is delicious!!! No frills. Great service. Not very much seating, and it's kind of uncomfortable.... But if they had more seats I bet this place would be hopping!!

Still terrible service and rude employees. I had an employee ask for tips for ice cream that they don't even fold like they did when it was a coldstone. Then went on to tell me that they only work for tips. After I told his manager I would ask if he only gets paid in tips since that is illegal he quickly backtracked. The other employee was making wafflecones in behind the one making ice cream and even stated "these things taste like crap". Lastly they raised their prices. They never have large lids for the ice cream so your forced to buy two smaller containers. They used to be 14 bucks for the two and this time it was 20, they raised the price 3 bucks each. Not going back.

An hour after dinner at the fabulous German Cafe, we went to Alan's Homemade Ice Cream. The ice cream is not as flavorful as a homemade ice cream shop should be. Their bases are vanilla(ish) and chocolate(ish), but they don't sell vanilla, and the chocolate tastes more like frosting from a jar; so....odd. Anyway, it was not horrible ~ just not particularly good. The guy working there this evening was very nice and gave us tastes of any of the flavors we wanted. He said they get their flavor formulations from a company (rather than making it from scratch in the store). One thing, the waffle cones (if you are going to get one) have a cinnamon taste to them, rather than the normal waffle cone, so make sure that the flavor you pick goes with cinnamon. They are light and crispy, which is good. I had the German Chocolate, which was ok. My wife had the butter pecan, which she liked but said it did not go very well with the cinnamon flavor of the waffle cone. All in all, it was ok. We have had real homemade ice cream in Florida, where they actually make homemade ice cream from cream and natural real chocolate, fruits (strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, etc.), real vanilla beans, etc., rather than from formulas of flavorings and colorants sent by some company. Cannot really give it more than a 2, based upon past experiences elsewhere. Save money; purchase Breyer's or even store brand ice cream at the grocery store.

Something new to try in Sierra Vista! This is good stuff! We decided to check this out tonight and were pleasantly surprised. I had the raspberry and cream, which was a great combo. The balance was excellent, a little tartness from the berries and the sweetness of the cream. I also tried the apple pie and crust--tasted like apple a la mode. The spices were perfect. My sister got the vanilla yogurt with strawberries and she enjoyed that as well. I look forward to going back soon. Also--servings are good sized--not too big but enough so you feel like you got your money's worth.
